Simple Sunday: Pink Teacup Nails ft. MoYou London Trend Hunter

For today's Simple Sunday, I am dabbling into the realm of water decals. It's fun to combine water decals with simple stamping for a quick and easy, yet detailed, nail look.

I think it kind of looks like a pink teacup. Very girly for this week's Sunday mani.

This look is super simple to achieve- just simple stamping for the pinky and pointer finger, and water decals for the middle two. I did put a white base under the water decals to help them stand out.

If you've never used water decals before, they can be a little bit intimidating but the process is fairly simple. First, remove the clear plastic sheet from the top of the decals, and drop the decal in a bowl of water for about 20 seconds. Next, slide the decal off of the paper backing and apply it to your nail, smoothing out any wrinkles. Use a brush with acetone to clean away any part of the decal that went over your skin, and apply a topcoat.

The stamp on my on my pointer/pinky fingers comes from this MoYou London "Trend Hunter 13" plate. I thought it was a fun twist on polka dots and perfect for a "teacup" look.

Simple Sunday with MoYou London Trend Hunter 13

It's time for another Simple Sunday mani, and today's is really quite simple as it uses nothing but simple stamping techniques and only two colors of polish!

This week, I decided to try out the MoYou London Trend Hunter 13 plate.

This plate has a lot of crazy geometric patterns with lots of detail on them, so it's a perfect example of a plate that lends itself well to basic stamping. It kind of looks like a lot of work, but the images are pre-designed to make it really easy. All you really need is a good clear stamper to make it easy to see where you are placing the design on your nail. 

As far as polish goes, I started off with two coats of Sinful Colors "The Royal Me", and stamped over it with the Bundle Monster stamping polish "Red Hot". I've noticed that unlike most dark colors, burgundy polishes that aren't intended for stamping turn out more pink than burgundy on the nail, so it's a useful color to have in a "real" stamping polish. 

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I'm really looking forward to this week because it's my oldest child's last week of school, and then we're headed into summer. He's super excited for the break, and I'm scrambling to work out a schedule to keep him busy enough so we all don't loose our sanity, but I think it's going to be a great summer! Simple Sunday 5/7/2017, ft. MoYou London Trend Hunter

It's that time of week again, where I show you what I wore on my nails to church this week. I like to try to do something simpler, and more classic, for my Sunday mani, though sometimes it ends up being a little more complicated than my original plan!

I was in the mood to play with the Trend Hunter collection this week, and to try out some mini Essie bottles that my Mom gave to me when she visited last month. The were from a Christmas collection, but I liked the lovely purples and decided to give them a go.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas: Work-Appropriate Nail Art

Today's post is for the Crumpet's Nail Art/26 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge, and the prompt is "Work Appropriate Nail Art." I debated a little bit about what I thought this meant; after all, I'm a stay-at-home Mom so really anything is appropriate for my job, but I thought I'd go with something classic for this look. I figured, what's more classic with red? Although all jobs will have different rules about fingernails, most wouldn't complain about a classic red polish.

I decided to pair my red with some black for a grown-up look, and stick with classic designs like lace and florals.

I started off with two coats of this Essie polish "Altitude Attitude", which was part of a Christmas collection and is in the mini size. I was pretty satisfied with the formula of this polish and I am liking how this color pops with the black stamping over it. For my ring finger I decided to go with a shimmery black instead of straight black; I used two coats of the Revlon polish.

My floral image on the ring finger comes from this newer Born Pretty Store plate; it's from their newest release. I find myself reaching for fillable florals a *lot*, so I figured it would come in handy.

My lace image comes from this MoYou London "Trend Hunter" collection plate. Now, you may notice that this is the smaller image plate, and my nails are getting a little bit longer right now. These images are currently too small for my middle finger nail, though they will still cover the pointer/pinky fingers, and possibly the ring finger. That's part of the reason I decided to do a french tip-esque look for this mani; you don't want full coverage anyway. however, I still could get away with using these smaller plates on longer nails by stamping the image twice to cover any missed portions. I've done this before with the lacy images and it's really hard to see where the two parts come together. It doesn't always work, but it does with most types of images.

And the finishing touch for this mani was the bands from this classic MoYou London "Frenchy" collection plate. I love this plate; it's really useful, but once again I find it difficult to use. It took me several tries to get good pick-up with these images and they are difficult to apply to the nail without messing up; just fair warning. I would still recommend it, with the advisory that it takes some extra patience.

I hope you enjoyed this look! After a week straight of wearing this mani during my vacation,  I was so ready for a change and I'm happy to have a fresh coat of polish on! Be sure to check out the other challenge entries in the link-up below!

Nail Crazies Unite- Pastel Floral

This Week's prompt in the Nail Crazies Unite group is "Pastel Florals". I thought it would be fun to try layering my flowers over lace this time, since I figured white would enhance the "pastel" look. I feel like these turned out more "muted" than "pastel", but oh well.

I still like them. ;)

Funny thing, I picked OPI's "You're Such a Budapest" for my base because I though it would be a lovely pastel shade to start with, but I think with the white stamped over it it ended up looking a lot like denim and lace.

My lace images come from this MoYou London plate from the "Trend Hunter" collection. I think this is quickly becoming a favorite in my collection- lace is a pretty versatile theme  and I love the variety on this plate.

My flowers came from this Born Pretty Store plate. I used the Morining Glories on this plate for a really similar look back in January this year. I actually bought this plate because I fell in love with the terrariums on it, but go figure; I haven't actually used them yet. ;p

Simple Sunday 3/26/17, ft. MoYou London Minimal and Trend Hunter

Today's Simple Sunday is inspired by those little tutorial videos the official MoYou London instagram account is always posting. I really loved how they used the corner of an image to make a triangle shape and then added another triangle shape on top, and wanted to try the technique for myself.

I really love the versatility of this technique- you could use almost any retangular or square design to do it and add more mileage to your images.

I started off this mani with 3 coats of the Sinful colors "Peaches and Cream" shade, which is part of the collaboration with Youtuber Kandee Johnson. This polish has a matte finish, which unfortunately means it's kind of a pain in the butt. Matte finish polishes have an extra long drying time as a general rule.  I put on a speed-drying topcoat to speed up the process, but I think I was feeling extra clumsy last night because I smudged my nails so many times and had to re-do several fingers. Sigh.

My lacy images come from the MoYou London "Trend Hunter" plate with all the lovely lace. One of my favorite images on this plate is the one I used on my middle finger. I picked an image that had a good consistent pattern on the corner for my ring finger so that it would look like a single pattern instead of two different ones- I wanted it more simple and straightforward. Then I simply stamped one of the corners onto my nail instead of placing the whole image over it.

Next, I pulled out my trusty Holy Shapes-05 plate, also by MoYou London. I used the equilateral triangle in the lower left-hand corner to stamp over my little lacy triangle with Essie's Leggy Legend. This particular metallic polish doesn't have the best opacity when stamped, so I had to stamp it a couple of times, just lining the images up using my clear stamper. You can still kind of see the white lace through the image, so maybe I should have gone over it with polish free-hand, but it just didn't bother me that much.

Finally, I stamped some of the arrows from this MoYou London "Minimal Collection" plate.

Simple Sunday 1/15/17 ft. MoYou London Trend Hunter

Today I have another Simple Sunday using the Trend Hunter 01 plate by MoYou London, which is one of my favorite plates to use for Sunday appropriate nails (like this one and that one) because of all the lovely florals!

Today's mani plays with a new Sinful Colors polish, "The Full Monte", which I found on the "new for 2017" display at Kmart. It's a really pretty kind of crelly polish with lots of flakies. It does have a tricky formula, unfortunately- it's kind of chunky with the flakies in there and a thick-ish consistency.  I'm thinking maybe it was a bit too sheer for the reverse stamping I tried to do with it on the daises, because they ended up a bit muddy, but you live you learn.

I also was pleased with how the plum polish, "Readie or Not", from this year's Valentine's Day release stamped. It's nice to find shimmery polishes that stamp well, because it's fun to stamp with glitter!

Nail Crazies Unite: Silver and Gold... and purple!

This week in the Facebook group Nail Crazies Unite our prompt is "Silver and Gold". This is a color combo I always seem to have trouble with for some reason, so this time I decided to pair it with purple since gold and silver are both such regal colors and purple fits in with that "royal" color grouping. I thought it would be fun to play with my new MoYou London Trend Hunter plate and I added in a little monster because I thought he would play well with these darker, moody colors.

The polish I'm holding in the mani shot is a new Sinful Colors for the Valentine's Day collection. Oh my gosh it is so shimmery! I have it on my ring finger so I could appreciate it in all its glory.

Alice in Wonderland ft. MoYou London

Today I am excited to play with my new Alice in Wonderland plates by MoYou London. I just adore the newly released plate that features illustrations from the book, and I wanted to make my nails look like the pages of an aged copy of the literary classic.

I  debated whether I wanted to go with this darker neutral for the base, or a lighter Ivory color like Sinful Colors "Beaches and Cream", but in the end I went with Wet N Wild "Yo Soy" because it seemed like exactly the color of really old book pages. I considered adding a pop of color to this, but in the end I decided to keep it true to what you would see if you opened a real book. I included the stripes originally because they kind of reminded me of books lined up on a shelf, but I am not sure it really is obvious in the mani. I think it looks more like wacky wallpaper, perhaps in the room that Alice is standing in deciding whether or not to drink the bottle.

...which means my polish list is super short! I used this deep brown OPI to stamp with over the nude color. 

My illustration of Alice comes from this lovely plate. The details on this plate are just so amazing! The tiny pen strokes of the illustrations! Amazing.

 And of course, I had to use the coordinating typography plate to mimic the words on a page. Now, the phrases on this plate are mostly really too large to be able to fit the whole thing onto your nail in a way that it is readable. Some of the really small ones you'd be able to fit, but mostly not.

Finally, one of the newer Trend Hunter plates. I really, really wanted to get to play with this!

Simple holiday party nails featuring MoYou London Trend Hunter

Today I have some simple and elegant nails that I painted to wear to my husband's work party. I am going to be dressing up so I figured my nails should me more formal too.

I started off with one of my favorite purples, Sinful Colors "Sleigh Me", which is part of their Christmas display this year. Originally I was going to create a decal with the MoYou London Trend Hunter image, but it turned out ugly, probably because I tried to do it with gold stamping and pastel colors to fill it in, and it just didn't work. So I simply stamped the image plain to go for a more subtle look.

I think these images really benefit from being filled in, because it's kind of hard to tell whtat the image is supposed to be here. 

I also used a Bundle Monster plate from the winter holiday collection:

I used the snowflakes in the upper right corner and stamped them over my other nails. 

Challenge Your Nail Art: Fall Flowers

I'm excited to bring you today's entry for the "Challenge Your Nail Art" group on Facebook, which is inspired by fall flowers. I thought the MoYou London Trend Hunter plate would be a perfect jumping off point for this prompt, since it has lots of fall flowers against different backgrounds, including plaid which is a great match for fall themes.

Here are my polishes and plates for this manicure:

I did a double-stamping technique for the plaid look, using two of the different plaid images from the Born Pretty Store plate.  I stamped the first in the gold polish, and the overlapped it with a coordinating image from the plate in black polish. For the sunflower image, I simply made a decal with the MoYou London Trend Hunter plate using the sunflower and plaid image.

Simple Sunday with MoYou London's Trend Hunter

For today's Simple Sunday I was excited to play with MoYou London's new Trend Hunter plate! This plate is a really pretty plate with multiple designs of flowers over different plaid and striped backgrounds. This plate makes it really easy to get a layered look with stamping.

I used Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in "Lemon Heaven" for my yellow base, and stamped with Sinful Colors "Navy I Do". My flowers are filled in with Sinful Colors "Rock the Bow".

I only used one image from the plate (my ring finger), and I also used this plate for my middle finger image (from aliexpress):
