As promised, today I am sharing my baseball themed mani for the 30 Days of Color Challenge. The prompt is "recreation", and for me, baseball holds a special place in my heart. It's the only sport I really ever played as a child, and the only sport I've ever taken an interest in at a professional level.
As such, this mani is dedicated to my baseball team, the Seattle Mariners. I don't live in Seattle anymore, but I did spend quite a bit of my childhood there as well as a few of my adult years. We used to go to the Mariners games as a family and also as a church youth group, and I have some very fond memories of cheering on the team, and the excitement we felt when our team won. One of my favorite memories was in 2001 when the Mariners made it all the way to the playoffs, and the whole city was excited. This was back before smart phones, so everywhere we went strangers were talking to each other about the current score; listening to the game on the radio in public spaces. I just loved the sense of community I felt during that time.
So this mani is done in Mariner's colors, with the compass which is a symbol for the team.
As part of the challenge, we are encouraged to use untried polishes in our manis. My untried is the Sally Hansen "Tempting Taurus", which I really really loved! Great formula, great opacity, and a really lovely color.
This plate (from Bundle Monster's 'Work It!' Collection) was also untried for me. I used the baseball stitching pattern to get the baseball on my middle finger.
For my stripes, I used this MoYou London Holy Shapes plate; my new go-to for basic patterns. For a comprehensive list of ways I have used this plate, you can check out this index page.
I snagged the compass from this Bundle Monster plate from the fall 2016 collection, "Into the Woods". I really love the images on this plate! I recently used it on my "calm" themed mani for last month's challenge.
Finally, I wanted to stamp "Sodo Mojo" on my thumbs. "Sodo Mojo" is kind of the Mariner's team motto; it means "Seattle Magic" or something like that. For this, I used another Bundle Monster "Work It!" plate:
Well, that wraps up this post. My question of the day for my readers: do you have a favorite sports team? What is it about them that makes them hold a place in your heart? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
These are fab! I really need to get that MoYou London plate, it has so many great basic deigns/shapes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, I really like their Holy Shapes line, they have a few plates in there that are just so darn useful.
DeleteWonderful mani, I really love your index nail it looks so cool! I think I am quite boring as I don't really follow any sports!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Ha ha well I guess I'm pretty boring too, I don't even follow the Mariners anymore; only when my parents tell me something about them do I really know what's going on over there. But I did love going to their games!
DeleteWow, it's a great one! *sport mood on*
