Nail Crazies Unite: Red and Black ft. Bundle Monster Mystic Woods

Hello Readers!

Today's post is for the Nail Crazies Unite group on Facebook, where the bi-weekly challenges fill in the gaps between the prompts for the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge group. Today's challenge is "Red and Black". I had some fun and tried a new technique this week that I really enjoyed.

I have been wanting to use these mushrooms for a while now, too, so I was pleased that they were going to work out for the "red and black" challenge. I tried to keep the other colors in the mani pretty neutral to make the red and black stand out as the main colors.

The Sinful Colors "Velvet Ribbon" was from this year's Christmas collection. I put on just one coat of it; Sinful Colors tends to do a really good job with these foil finish/shimmery polishes. I will note, however, that this particular polish chipped faster than your average polish.

My cute little mushroom house images come from this Bundle Monster plate, from last year's fall collection. I made some pretty straightforward decals with this plate for my ring/middle fingers, but I had a little more fun with my pointer and pinky...

I started off with MoYou London's Kaleidoscopic plate, by stamping one of the designs onto the tip of my fingers. Next I top-coated that, and when it was dry I masked the stamped area off with liquid latex and stamped over it with this plate:

This plate is by hehe, and was part of their Harry Potter collection, meant to represent the Ravenclaw house. I just used the leaf pattern because I thought it would match the woodsy theme. I really liked using the liquid latex to mask off the nail- it was so easy to remove and easy to apply accurately.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the other black and red themed manis in the link-up below.

    1. Thank you! It did sort of turn out looking very "fall". Not exactly seasonally appropriate, but I won't pretend I don't do summer manis in the winter anyway, so who cares? ;)

    1. Thank you! I actually hadn't really considered what kind of creature might live in those houses, so you've got me thinking about it. I love that idea!

    1. Yes! I love Ravenclaw, it's my favorite. Someday maybe I'll actually use that plate for its intended purpose... I actually tried once but I didn't like the way the polishes I picked looked together. Bronze and blue turned out to be trickier than I thought.
