Changing Scales, Ft. MoYou London Animal

Hello Readers!

Today's post is another #clairestelle8challenge post for instagram, and the prompt this go-round is "scales". I thought about being cheeky and doing a music-themed mani with "do re me fa" stamped across my nails, but in the end I really wanted to play with some of my new neon polishes for summer, so I came up with this:

My idea is that the little chameleon is changing colors, but he's still a little chameleon and hasn't quite figured out how to get his tail to change. He's practicing his technique here.

For this mani, I started off with a white base for all my neon gradients. I decided to fade to green on both gradients to represent the chameleon changing colors. I just used the traditional gradient sponging method. Once those were done, I added the Sinful Colors topper over the tops of all my nails. I thought this chameleon could use a little bit of magic!

The Sinful Colors neon polishes are from this year's summer release, so you should be able to find them at Walgreens right now. They were 2.99 even though they didn't have a special colored cap, though.

My little chameleon friends come from this MoYou London plate, "Animal 01". I created little decals of the images so I could fill them in with fun neon colors.

My actual scales came from this Bundle Monster/Gotnail Blogger collab plate. This is a super fun plate that I've used before in a mermaid mani.

I hope you enjoyed my little reptile friend! If you want to see more scaly manis, check out the hashtag #clairestelle8may on instagram!

  1. I love this! The chameleon is so cute and the top coat adds that little extra detail that gives everything more depth. I also like that your story and the use of green helps to tie all the nails together in rainbow-y goodness. :)
